As I had stated in my introduction post I enjoy strong female lead characters. Females who are not just going to stand around waiting for a man to come and rescue them but who are willing to rescue themselves. Now if you have only read the sample of my book given by Kindle and by Barnes and Noble then you are missing out on the true spirit that is Lilly Rose Clements Trents.
Now I am going to keep this as spoiler free as I can. I do have a Patreon page where I may just make a post about this topic and give spoilers that will just wet your appetite to find out more by picking up the book and reading about everything for yourself. I will talk more about that page in another post back to the background and reason I wrote Deadly Conflicts.
When I started writing this story I knew that Lilly would have to have several different conflicts ranging from dangerous to just your everyday issues. I loved shows like La Femme Nikita(the original TV series in the 1990’s not the horrid remake, my opinion I just didn’t like it) Buffy and several other shows and books and movies starring women who were strong, independent and not afraid to do things their way not the way it is ‘supposed’ to be done.
I wanted Lilly to be a woman whom could protect herself but be a woman at the same time. She does start off in the book as a young child, I plan to do a separate post about why I did this topic later, but the next thing you know she is a full-grown adult in the same chapter running a crew that are escaping this agency they work together in agency. Now in both of these sets ups, she is helped out by other people. As a child, she is helped out by Armond the agent who comes along whom finds her mother about to sell her off to a drug dealer for a fix. The second time she is working together in a group with 3 other people but also has people on the outside helping them out as well getting them out. But she is clearly in charge when she is an adult making sure this team is ready to leave and getting them out of the building safe and sound.
We start up a week later as she walks the streets ‘free for the first time in 10 years when she comes across a young woman being beaten by a man who is twice the size of Lilly. After a few choice words towards Lilly, she had no qualms about beating him up and sending him on his way. After attending to the girl and making sure that she was ok she finds herself with something she wasn’t expecting. Things happen, and a new life drops in her lap like an early birthday present. This pretty much brings us to the end of the sample piece there is a small bit of extra part that I will save for another post.
The synopsis of the book talks about Lilly’s love for two men. One of whom is Armond the man whom saved her as a child and condemned her at the same time to a life in the agency where she ends up hating it. Then there is Ben a computer genius who loves her in a way that she has never had before because all she had ever known really was that world. Because in one form or another she has been kept spirited away by the agency to keep her hidden away until she was old enough to become an agent and work for them. But this I will go into in greater detail again in another blog.
For both men, she shows her womanly side in a different way. For Ben she shows she is in love with him in how she interacts with him later in the book, with him it is like they are like two teenagers despite both being in their late 20’s. They very much are sweethearts and Ben always makes sure never to do anything to hurt Lilly in any way.
But with Armond, it was different from his role in her life with him started as something different, as a mentor once she accepted him as such. Then he was a protector and guardian. But Armond from the first moment he saw Lilly again as an adult he was in love with her and knew he wanted to be with her and would do anything to make that so. But he knew he had to be cunning in how he went about going after the girl.
So that is the general story for Lilly in a nutshell. I shall dive into the love triangle. later. But for now, I hope I have peaked your interest, and if so.
